About the museum:
After twenty two years of working as part of another institution – the Slatina adult education institute – since 2006 the Slatina Local History Museum has worked as an independent cultural institution. Behind us are years full of work collecting material, studying this material and planning the permanent display. The real challenges are still before us with the move to the new premises, the “Old District” building. The Slatina Local History Museum collects, keeps and exhibits in interim exhibition spaces objects of the natural, material and spiritual cultural heritage deriving from the city of Slatina and the municipalities of Čađavica, Sopje, Voćin, Mikleuš and Nova Bukovica. It was founded in 1984 as part of the adult education institute. From then until 1991 it shared space wit the other users of Palace Drašković. As a result of wartime operations in the Homeland War, these premises were severely damaged, and were no longer fit for use. Since then, ad hoc museum exhibitions have been organised in the Culture House Gallery in Slatina, which was put into shape in 1999.
